Study visit to ES Munich, Germany
In November 2024, a delegation consisting of teachers, directors, members of the management team, and a representative from the Tyrolean Department of Education took part in a one-day study visit to the European School Munich (ESM).
After arriving at the Fasangarten campus, the group was warmly welcomed by the school director and introduced to the structure and educational approach of the ESM. A guided tour of the school building followed, offering a first-hand look at the learning environment and facilities.
During lunch in the school cafeteria, participants had the opportunity to engage in informal exchange with members of the teaching staff. Afterwards, they were given an overview of the interdisciplinary subject “European Hours”, including its objectives and structure, followed by the chance to observe various classroom activities related to this subject. Participants visited a variety of European Hours sessions, such as Games and Sports in Europe, Fauna, School Garden, or creative workshops like Podcast Production and Robotics.
After the observations, the group gathered again for a joint reflection and exchange of impressions. The visit concluded with a brief tour through the nursery section and sports facilities, offering additional insights into the school’s broader pedagogical setting.
The visit provided both practical inspiration and a deeper understanding of how European values and competencies are actively embedded in the curriculum of a European School.
