On Track: Successes in the AES Tyrol recognition process

von Accredited European School Tyrol
03. January 2023

As part of the first phase of the official accreditation procedure of the European School Tyrol, the "General Interest File" was submitted to the Secretary General of the European Schools, Dr. Beckmann, by the Federal Minister ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Martin Polaschek on 31.8.2022.

The presentation of the dossier to the "Joint Board of Inspectors of the European Schools" on 12.10.2022 and to the "Board of Governors of the European Schools" on 8.12.2022 in Brussels was made by the National Coordinator for International Schools, HR Mag. Helmuth Aigner.

The AES Tyrol dossier received a unanimous, positive decision by both committees.

A visit by the then Governor of Tyrol, Günter Platter, and his then designated successor, LR Anton Mattle, to the Secretary General of the European Schools in Brussels immediately after the first presentation on 12.10.2022 once again emphasised the political significance of this educational project, which is unique for Austria.

With these decisions, the doors were opened for the next step of the accreditation procedure: At the beginning of February 2023, the "dossier of conformity" was presented to the "Joint Teaching Committee" of the European Schools in Brussels.

Based on the recommendation of the Joint Teaching Committee, the Board of Governors, consisting of the representatives of the Ministers of Education of all EU Member States, will make a decision on the accreditation and the start of the European School Tyrol at the beginning of the school year 2023/24.
